Dear Participants of the 2011 GBI,
When I was asked, if I would like to be the Patron for the Global Biking Initiative 2011, I immediately said yes: after all, who wouldn't want to support a project which benefits children in need? , I was thrilled and deeply moved when I realized how many cyclists from all over the World have volunteered to support the GBI. Every one of the 300 participants from 18 Countries will each collect money for social projects in their own countries. I think that is a great idea of the founders of this initiative.
But we don't have to look beyond the borders of our own country to find children that are grateful for support from the community. And for this reason the Global Biking Initiative 2011, in parallel to the national project, will also support a local project, the "Kindertafel Düsseldorf" (a charitable food pantry for needy children in Dusseldorf).
I am pleased to be able to support the GBI 2011. I want to wish everyone involved good luck and the success they have earned. And most importantly return safe and sound back in our State Capital of Düsseldorf on the 6th of May.
Yours Sincerely

Hannelore Kraft
